the following is on the job list:

1. implement 2nd name for roadsearches (example type in buendia and find buendia and gil puyat) :implemented 1.05

2. routing improvement (u turn detection on prov roads / highways)

3. POI graphics in nuvis while routing

4. custom icons (in progress)

5. house number search (easy to implement, bit harder to get the data)

6. what say you? any other ideas - tips, hints?

8. Pre-alerting (voice alert) for coming turns, especially sharp turns.. This is very useful when driving at night in the provinces like Bicol or Leyte and Samar...

I believe it's a function of the device itself not the map. In version 1.03b, I have encountered voice prompts that tells you about oncoming sharp turns.

You may try creating custom POIs. You can use your custom MP3 file to warn you of such turns, use your own BMP file and even alert you about speed limits you create or define/set yourself.

I have created a few custom POIs myself that warn me to slowdown when approaching intersections (I choose those that I often pass by). I can specify when such warning occurs (how far/near from the intersection in meters).

Hmmm, why didn't I think of huh!!! Thanks for the tip... however, i was hoping it comes with the map rather than customizing because the GPS is supposed to guide us especially for those places we have never been to... neverthless i will try this... thanks a lot.

As I've said, it's device-dependent. My Nuvi does inform me ahead of time about sharp turns (even w/o the custom POIs).

Street addresses & Building outlines etc

I'ld like to learn how we can contribute with house numbers/addresses and outlines of buildings, fields, rivers etc etc.? Could Google earth be utilized somehow? Please educate me, I'ld like to know to make the map as good as possible?

For buildings, rivers, parks... Google earth 4 using polygons will be fine. I'm not sure though about house numbers.

housenumbers: several possibilities. am playing with them now in dumaguete map, so far so good. once it's fixed, i'll let you know on the format

how about No Left turns for routing? There's a lot of that here in the metro.

im doing all or most of the rivers in the metro using google earth. i can teach you how if i need to (if you're nearby my area - PRC area, makati city), or i can make a video tutorial and post it somewhere - youtube, google video, or something.
