hi people, i am a nuvo 205w user and a family owned 2 mitsubishi with gps units. wishing to have knowledge about gps systems and upgrading/updating maps on the said units.

Nuvi 205W- you came to the right place, please visit the FAQ page here for Garmin: http://roadguide.ph/forums/showthread.php?t=1526
Mitsubishi built in GPS, will probably be AVT- RG map not compatible with it, there are a few members that use it, but best to visit AVT website directly. I understand they do offer free updates of map in their website. Or ask your local mitsubishi dealer.
