        Thanks Borgie, Doki

        Good day

I just got a china made GPS running on Win CE5 and is installed with Garmin XT, some questions i would like to ask

        1) Can i contribute to this site?
I love travelling on my motorcycle & since im into photography i take a lot of pictures during my trips, its only now that i enjoy the benefits of bringing a GPS with me, i have updated my map from your site and there is a huge difference in detail and im very happy with it.

        2) Am i entititled to updated maps if i contribute even if i do not own a Garmin GPS unit? I think i read somewhre that using bootleg software and hardware here is highly discouraged.

        3) Eventually i plan to get a Garmin unit, what model would you recommend and how much would it cost?, i only have a vey limited budget

        TIA

More Pics, all done in HDR

Yes. As long as you qualify as a contributor depending on your contributions.

Using bootleg software/hardware at your own risk, we don't have issue at all. We just don't want those promoted in the forum.

A nuvi 255w or 285wt will be a good choice. But since you're using a motorcycle for your travels, zumo models are your best choice. They are quite pricey though.

            1. Sure you can. Every contribution is welcome and will help in giving more coverage for the Roadguide map. And since you're a traveller, you can go to more places and can greatly help in updating the map in these places.

            2. Having a garmin gps is not/has never been a requirement. Please check out the threads in the forum discussing how to contribute even without a GPS. And once you've attained contributor status you are entitled to download the latest updated map as soon as it is released.

            3. Depends on what you plan to use it for and your budget. If for the motorcycle check out Garmin zumo series (price $400 upwards) or the Nuvi 500/550 ($250+). Or you can buy the reliable handhelds like the 60CSx ($300+) or the cheaper Etrex Vista HCx ($225+) and just buy a good handlebar RAM mount ($30+). Check out these items and their user reviews at amazon. I'm sure you'll find one that suits your needs...

Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend.
