I agree. But as mentioned before, it will cost you as much, if not more with this set-up than by buying a dedicated garmin for navigation. Not considering the small screen of the phone. Hth.

Where can I get one kaya? Sa Costco ba mas mura? or sa net?
Costco is currently selling the 4.3" Garmin nuvi 780 for $250 after $100 mail in rebate (just a little over your budget). If you ask your friend to buy that for you. You can use the Garmin nuvi 780 as a hands free device when using your SE P1i. I believe you are referring to the bluetooth when you ask about "GPS compatibility with your SE P1i". The nuvi 780 also has a car mountable attachment. Costco is not the cheapest but their customer service is EXCELLENT!

I am a newbie, too but I hope I answered your question.

Finally, got the map into my Garmin ... hehehe

Question, I noticed sa mga POIs, almost all the address are tagged as "map by http://roadguide.ph" (something like that), and only a handful have the address (almost always street name lang without the number), and a few with telephone number pa (the best)

            Baket po ganoon?

            OFFTOPIC
I have seen the AVT being sold at Toyota yesterday, and its map looks more comprehensive, as they have the ONE WAY, U TURN, etc

I did not notice if they have a good database of POIs nga lang.

Kaya when we used the same Garmin sa US, ang galing talaga, you just have to input the complete address, and it will point you to the destiniation.

Dito, pansin ko, ang bagal mag "recalculate" ng device, when you miss a turn. Besides, parang ang daming NO LEFT TURN at ONE WAY na di alam?

            IMHO lang po.

I have a small suggestion re the POIs if I may.

Maybe we can contact some of the biggest retail outlets, and ask them to help plot their stores - complete address and telephone number. I am sure they will be more than willing to do that for their free ads.

Para magiging mas comprehensive ang POIs database natin.

if i would be looking to buy a new nuvi. any suggestion on what should it be.

                    just need the essentials:
                    - can record track
                    - best reception
                    - faster processing
                    - wide screen

                    won't hurt if it has/can:
                    - speak street name
                    - that fancy whatchamacallit thing that shows the lanes before a turn

not necessay, but don't mind if price diff is negligible
                    - bluetooth for handsfree
                    - mp3 player

                    any inputs guys?

                      2. all same

                      " - speak street name"
worthless as long as there is no decent tagalog voice file.

"- that fancy whatchamacallit thing that shows the lanes before a turn" not maps here are not yet compatible with that

                        agree on item 2.
though im thinking why do they pronounce "provincial " as pro-vin-tial considering its an english word .am using 760 btw.

buth the bluetooth phone integration and multiroute are cool feature none in 200 series
