DOES FORD PHILIPPINES HAS A VALID TIE UP WITH ROADGUIDE.PH?

....or are they just ripping the map?

My office mate just "borrowed" the new Ford Everest (I dont know if it's already out in the market) for road testing and review for a few days from Ford Philippines.

As I saw him parking the car fresh from the casa, my attention was caught to this big lcd display panel located where your stereo should be. Upon further inspection I confirmed that it was a built-in GPS/ stereo system.

I told my office mate that it's probably AVT's. But when I turned it on and inspected the maps, (I was holding my nuvi that time) I saw that the map is an exact replica of roadguide's. The version is probably 1.06 as I saw minute details which is an exact copy of 1.06. How do I confirm this? I have contributed roads and places which are usually not accessible to public and are in at the most end of the road and those roads are in the map included with Ford's. I am 101% sure that those roads came from my contributions.

Thus the reason for asking. I havent inspected again the built in unit so I have no idea what OS is it using and if the unit has map info on the settings.

If Ford has a tie up with roadguide.ph then there'll be no problem but if they got it without permission then it's a different matter.

If roadguide.ph had an agreement with any other third-party, it would be on the front page and we'd known about it.

Whether legit or not, I'm holding off judgment until more details becomes available.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

      Text message from Jan:

      "There's no agreement with Ford.

They use AVT maps. Quite sure of this fact.

Pls. provide name of casa so I can verify myself.

As to your data being used: it is one of the reasons the downloads have been restricted."

if a keygen has been developed then there is no stopping them...

BUT I totally agree with Jan and the other thread that restricts access to uploaded contributions to the MC, Mods and Admin.. they might be able to find a way to load the maps on their vehicles BUT they can't instantly get the latest updates to it.. contributed by the fine members of this community... just my two cents worth..

having the updated maps of roadguide.ph restricted is a very very good idea.

Not being naive, ofcourse there is key gen's out there!
We just have to try protect our map and contributions otherwise?
Hopefully all our contributors has the dignity of keeping it this way?

Shame on Ford, I never liked them anyway

All new vehicles coming out are surely going to have a gps device built on them sooner or later. I hate seeing new cars with built in gps as at the back of my mind i sense that the maps are coming from our hard earned contributions.

I beleive this matter should be discussed properly with Ford Philippines, they must understand the hardship of the people behind Roadguide and the contributors as well.
