    Planning Ifugao Loop...

    Hello Kuya's

We are planning to travel Ifugao Loop via Mountain Bike about 4 to 5 days by next month.

And about to visit these Ifugao municipalities
    1. Aguinaldo 3606
    2. Alfonso Lista (Potia) 3608
    3. Asipulo 3610
    4. Banaue 3601
    5. Hingyon 3607
    6. Hungduan 3603
    7. Kiangan 3604
    8. Lagawe 3600
    9. Lamut 3605
    10. Mayoyao 3602
    11. Tinoc 3609

Our priorities is to finish the Ifugao loop within 4 to 5 days, might sight seeing Batad.

    Below is the plan route.

Our travel might start from Banaue or Lagawe.. then going down to Lamut, our map dont have a road from Lamut to Alfonso Lista (Potia) therefore will take main road which is part of Isabela. Then Counter clockwise route, since it will be easier than Clockwise route, more paved uphill and more unpaved downhill = Good for us.

We've been to Mayoyao, Kiangan, Lagawe, Mayoyao and Tinoc, and we might rent an Inn to stay for a night or so.

But we've never been to Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista (Potia) and Asipulo municipalities, and our Map in Ifugao area are not that detailed, and so, these are my questions if any of our Kuya's might have been to. Kindly give us the coordinates
    1. Where can we find safe and not expensive Inn (about 200 to 400 per room)?
    2. Are there canteens or sari sari store?
    3. Are there any tourist spots or something interesting to see?
    4. Is there a route from Lamut to Alfonso Lista (Potia) without going to Main road?

The whole loop is about 350 to 400km..

    TIA

Thanks Kuya, but I hoping someone will guide us in these 3 municipal, namely Aguinaldo, Alfonso Lista (Potia) and Asipulo, as we never been there before...

I would reiterate the information we need...

Our Map in Ifugao area are not that detailed, and so, I asked if any of our Kuya's might have ideas.

          mayuyao-aguinaldo-alfonso lista -ramon road

the road from banawe to to mayuyao, aguinaldo, alfosnso lista and ramon is usually an all weather road. its an alternate route to the lowlands from banaue if the main road via lagawe is cut off. the most challenging is down from aguinaldo to alfonso lista. there are also several junctions along the way and most are unmarked. Mayuyao will be your best bet for accomodation after banawe, aguinaldo has a very small town center with nothing much. You wont be passing by the town proper of alfonso lista.

Great epic ride ... maybe you can share more info as to accommodation, eateries & etc. for other mountain bikers who might like to follow your bike tracks.

Day 3 : From Santiago to Aguinaldo

5 hours delayed from itinerary... pedalled @ 10am from Santiago city to Magat dam, then went to Aguinaldo. the hardest climb of the trip is just about 8km long.. and ascending 900meters high... chilling rain pour down upon us... and soaked wet... till we reach mountain top... then descends... too steep too fast and pitch black... our brakes screechs and scorch.. we were thinking how to survive the night... are we going to group hug to warm ourselves over the night... eeewww.. tsk tsk tsk... luckily there is a secret lodge in Aguinaldo.. tsk tsk tsk.. secret as in.. few only knew... well.. thanks there is HALIFUNAR lodge, a lifesaver lodge... as we are all soaked wet by rain... basang sisiw ika nga...

The picture below is at 200MASL from here to Aguinaldo town proper is about 8km... and ascends about 900+ meters..
took 3 hours to finished... chilling weather as cold rain pours down from 6pm till 8pm...

We were lucky enough that there is a lodge in Aguinaldo town proper..
Come on into HALIFUNAR lodge... 200pesos per person... I have plot this place...

Day 4 : Aguinaldo to Mayoyao...

Continuous raining... cozy place to stay... means more time to beauty rest... tsk tsk tsk... and another 5 hours delayed in our itinerary... side trip to Stone Frog trail... chilling cold weather.. had to forced drink gin.. but doesnt seems to be forced... as everyone was delighted... but gin had no effect.. then tried NGA-NGA.. spitting here... there.. and everywhere... yeah.. just like the song... reach Mayoyao at 5pm... thanks to JC for preparing the dinner.. RH again to get warm.. then killer bees incident... tsk tsk tsk...

This is Aguinaldo town proper.. Halifunar Lodge in the right side....

Pedalled starts @ 12nn... 6 hours delay as usual.. and we have to climb that...

                      A Primary School

                      Side trip to StoneFrog...

                      More climb

Day 5 : From Mayoyao to Batad... err.. Banaue...

After the killer bees incident.. we woke up late as usual... we left Mayoyao @12nn... this is my second time doing Mayoyao - Banaue trip.. and it is never easy... adding to that a 3 days continuous raining.. and lots of landslide... additional thick layer of fog or clouds blocking our vision... got lucky to steal some best view in ifugao...

We reached Batad junction at 6pm.. and its already dark... locals strongly suggest not to go there.. as it is dangerous, we might fall...tsk tsk tsk.. little do they know that we're HARDCORE.. tsk tsk tsk.. but we have to respect their opinion.. tsk tsk tsk.. then we decide to stay on Bangaan Family Inn.. but did go the opposite direction.. leading us back to Banaue at 8pm... tsk tsk tsk...

                        Mayoyao town proper... at Museum...

Clouds or thick fog.. the loop must go on.. tsk tsk tsk..

This is how thick is this cloud...

                        Fun start on 10km downhill

and of course with yours truly....

Mayoyao and Banaue boundary... and after this is.. Let the pain begins.. uphill time for 10km...

                        Great sight...

                          Day 6 : To Batad...

Left Ilob Village Inn Banaue @ 7am, then pedalled to the Bangaan Family Inn for breakfast... its is 15km away from Banaue and 3 km away from Batad.. travel for 1 hour to get to Bangaan Family inn is not bad.. consider the rough road... at some area, there are lots of chicken roaming around the road... whenever chicken saw intruders... tsk tsk tsk... it usually fled to corner... but this one is exemption... it run through the road we're heading to... and whenever I got near... it flap to boost its speed... till it get tired... and gone to corner... and Leon mention it run on the road again when it saw them coming (Leon and JC)... and finally till it reach the edge of mountain and jump then flap but instead it fell... RIP...

Arrived Bangaan Family Inn around 8am.. order.. wait for an hour... 9am breakfast.. then 9:45am on Batad Junction.. arrived Batad Summit around 11am... then rest... left Batad summit around 11:45am... arrived Batad @ 1:45pm, then rest... @2:30pm start trekking to Tappia falls.. tappia falls @ 4pm... left Tappia falls @ 4:30pm then trekked back to Batad @ 5:30pm... Batad summit @ 6:45pm.. then night ride...

if I remember correctly... this is hanging inn..

Bangaan Family Inn... its a good treat.. but have to wait for 1 hour for their cooking... since its not a fast food...

in front of Bangaan Family Inn.. is this..

Viewing from afar... Batad Rice terraces

                          At Batad Summit

                          Batad @ 1pm ...

                          Batad Amphi-theater Rice Terraces...

Trekking down to Tappia falls.. be careful its too steep...

Tappia falls... we dont have time to swim at it...
