        Screenshots of xt...

        Here's the best my xt can get outdoors, clear open skies:

        using built-in GPS

        using BT GPS 10x (note accuracy info shows when using external gps)

          Pardon my ignorance, what's the accuracy in meters? I can't see the figures.

                  Hi Neil. Try to change the unit from metric to english & note the difference. My 60csx best reading is +-3m but when unit's changed to english it becomes 8'. Metric rounds up to zero decimal place apparently same as english but english gives the more accurate value...

                      Is it accurate to say that older devices get better sattelite lock than the newer models?

                        No, it's the other way around. But older gps seems to have more stable tracks when you're on a standstill. The newer gps chip's tracks seem to wander all over the place when standing still...

                          Yeah, Physically not moving still gives you a speed reading. haha Well thats not the case for the garmin fitness devices (305, 310xt) Maybe there's a reason why Garmin chose this behaviour for the nav units.

                              look for the satellite signal bar at upper left corner, press it for around 10secs.
